Welcome to the Director’s Blog
Welcome to the Tri-County Technical Center of Dexter, Maine. During the past year, we have been rebuilding our facility since the devastating fire of early January of 2016. We are now back in the building and excited that our new equipment in most programs is very high-tech “state of the art.”
As this blog continues, I hope to share news from various programs here, including the national certificates our students are receiving. We have ten existing programs serving the students of six sending schools–Nokomis, Guilford, Greenville, Dover-Foxcroft, Milo, and Dexter.
Our programs coincide with many of the future job openings in our region. Students attending CTE classes gain the necessary skills and certifications needed to enter the job market. Many of our students leave TCTC with upwards of 30 university credits, go onto post-secondary settings, or enter the job market. We continue to upgrade our programs in accordance with advisory committee recommendations and national labor data that indicates what types of fields of interests are hiring. Regardless, the skill-sets students leave TCTC with will meet national standards and certificate requirements.
We encourage parents to discuss and explore career fields with their child, drop by the center and take a tour, or just review our webpage and ask questions. Many of our students feel that coming to Tri-County for training has helped them better focus on their future, build a stronger work ethic, and gain a real sense that learning and adapting are indeed lifelong learning attributes.
We here at TCTC are confident that the students educated in the trade and technical skills today will continue to compete with ease in the ever-growing global economy of tomorrow. I hope to continue to explore CTE impact on our students and communities and encourage all who read this blog to ask questions and offer input.
